  ALKORT OBJECTIVE OF ALKORT:  The objective of Alkort is to win tricks to score points. TYPE OF GAME:  Trick-Taking Card Game  OVERVIEW OF ALKORT Alkort is a very old Icelandic card game. There are two versions of this games. You can play as a two-player game or a four-player game with two partnerships. Below I will describe 4-player Alkort, but the two-player version remains the same minus the use of partners. Alkort is a trick-taking game, and your goal is to score points by winning 5 or more tricks. Your score will depend on the number of wins you receive and what order they were in. you score more for taking the first 5 or scoring more than 5 in a row.  SETUP To set up a 52-card deck will be modified taking out the 10s and 5s leaving a 44-card deck.   AMERIKANER OBJECTIVE OF AMERIKANER:  The objective of Amerikaner is to win tricks in order to achieve the highest score. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:  3-5 players MATERIALS:  A standard 52-card deck, a flat surface and a way to keep scores. TYPE OF GAME:  Trick-Taking Card Game  OVERVIEW OF AMERIKANER Amerikaner is a trick-taking bidding game where players bid how many tricks they will win and score points or lose points depending on if they achieve their bet. The game is played most commonly with 4 players but below I will describe the changes needed to play with 3 or 5 players as well. SETUP To set up a dealer is chosen randomly. After this dealer will pass to the left after each round. The dealer will shuffle the cards and the deck should be cut by the player on the right. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:  4 players MATERIALS:  A 48 card Spanish deck, a flat surface and a way to keep scores. TYPE OF GAME:  Trick-Taking Card Game  AUDIENCE:  Adult OVERVIEW OF ALUETTE Aluette is a game played with 4 -players in two set partnerships. Though this game is different from most because the two players in the partnerships do not combine tricks and compete to an extent in the round.  The goal of the game is to win the most tricks in a round or if a tie is had, to be the first to have achieved the most.  SETUP To set up first partnerships and the dealer are determined. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:   4 Players MATERIALS:  A modified 52 card deck, a way to keep score, and a flat surface TYPE OF GAME:  Trick-Taking Card Game  AUDIENCE:  Adult OVERVIEW OF BALOOT Baloot is a popular bidding trick-taking card game in Saudi Arabia. In Baloot, 4 players will play in 2 partnerships. Players will bid to determine the scoring and rules of the round and then compete to win tricks. After the round scores will be compiled. The team to score 152 points or win a “Gahwa” round will win the game.  SETUP To set up Baloot a deck of 52 cards should have the 2-6s removed. This will leave you with a 32-card deck to play with.   ARLINGTON OBJECTIVE OF ARLINGTON:  The objective of Arlington is to earn the most points in a game by scoring melds. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:   2-4 Players MATERIALS:  2 52-card decks (and one jack added), and a flat surface. TYPE OF GAME:  Rummy Card Game  AUDIENCE:  13+ OVERVIEW OF ARLINGTON Arlington is a version of Rummy where players can either play individually or 4 player games can choose to play in two partnerships. In Arlington, you will play a total of 7 hands and score and lose points in each hand. The player with the most points at the end of this has won the game. You can score points by playing melds to the table. Players also get points for going rummy by discarding their whole hand. SETUP The two decks and the joker are shuffled, and each player is dealt a 13-card hand. The remaining cards go into a draw pile in the center of the players.   OBJECTIVE OF ARBA’A TURUB:  The objective of Arba’a Turub is to win two consecutive hands to win the game. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:   4 Players MATERIALS:  4 modified 52-card decks, and a flat surface. TYPE OF GAME:  Trick-Taking Card Game  AUDIENCE:  Adult OVERVIEW OF ARBA’A TURUB Arba’a Turub is a game played by 4 players in two partnerships. It’s a trick-taking game where the goal to win a hand is to win the most tricks. To win the whole game you win two hands in a row.  SETUP To set up for Arba’a Turub you will need four 52-card decks. These will all need to be modified taking out the cards ranked 5 and below leaving a 36-card deck consisting of Aces through 6s. The 4 decks will be shuffled, and a dealer can be determined randomly. The goal of the game is to be the player with the most points. Auction Fort-Five is played by 4 or 6 players in partnerships of 2, for 4 players, and 3, for 6 players.  SETUP The deck is shuffled and dealt. Each player will receive 5 cards dealt in groups of three then two cards. Once all players have received their card the remaining deck is placed in the center of the table.
